The short version
Subscout does not collect your data. There are no accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking, and the app contains no third-party code. Your subscriptions are yours.
What the app stores, and where
- Your subscriptions (names, prices, dates, notes, and similar details you type in) are stored on your device.
- If you are signed in to iCloud, the same data is synced between your own devices through your private iCloud (CloudKit private database). It is protected by your Apple Account. The developer has no access to it and cannot read it.
- Settings (for example reminder times) are stored on the device only.
What is sent over the internet
- Nothing, by default. The app itself makes no network connections.
- If you turn on currency conversion in Settings, the app downloads the public daily exchange-rate file published by the European Central Bank. This is an ordinary web request: no account, no identifiers, and nothing about you or your subscriptions is sent. Like any web request, the server can see the IP address the request comes from. The downloaded rates are kept on your device.
- iCloud sync is performed by your device's operating system, under Apple's terms, not by the app.
Notifications
Reminders are local notifications created on your device. They are only set up after you allow notifications and turn reminders on. No notification content leaves your device.
Widgets and the Mac menu bar icon
They show a small summary of your upcoming charges, kept in a storage area shared only between this app and its widget on your device.
Sharing, selling, advertising
None. Your data is not shared with, sold to, or used by anyone else.
Your control
- Export your data any time (Settings, Data: JSON or CSV).
- Delete it any time (Settings, Data: Delete All Subscriptions). With iCloud sync on, deletion syncs to your other devices. Deleting the app removes the data from that device.
- Turn currency conversion, reminders or iCloud off whenever you like.
Children
The app does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new date.
